MUD, DUST, AND FIVE STARS, was originally created for the members of the 440 AAA AW BN in October 1945. The original publication was made possible through the efforts of many officers and men of the battalion.
The entire cost of the original publication was born by the members of the 44Oth who were still in the battalion in October 1945 in order that a record of their history could be mailed to all former members of the battalion.

Very few of these books remain intact today. I believe that many family members and friends of the men who served in the 440th will find it of great interest. The list of names and home address from the back of the book have been omitted to protect privacy.
